{"id":1471,"date":"2015-03-18T21:47:14","date_gmt":"2015-03-18T21:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.hsc.edu\/biology\/?p=1471"},"modified":"2023-09-26T13:33:42","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T13:33:42","slug":"six-h-sc-students-selected-to-participate-in-new-h-sccentra-pre-health-rotational-shadowing-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.hsc.edu\/biology\/2015\/03\/18\/six-h-sc-students-selected-to-participate-in-new-h-sccentra-pre-health-rotational-shadowing-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Six H-SC Students Selected to Participate in New H-SC\/Centra Pre-Health Rotational Shadowing Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Six Hampden-Sydney College students were recently selected to participate in the newly established H-SC\/Centra Pre-Health Rotational Shadowing Program.\u00a0 Benjamin Lam, Brant Boucher, DJ Bines, Jake Farrar, James Lau, and Robert Kerby will begin their rotations this semester and will have the option to continue their shadowing in the Fall 2015 semester as well.\u00a0 Through this program, these students will be exposed to various fields of medicine as they rotate through departments that include: Family Medicine, General Surgery, Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, the ICU, Gastrointestinal Medicine, OB\/Gyn, Radiology, and Pharmacy.\u00a0 The shadowing experience\u00a0afforded by this partnership will provide these students with valuable healthcare exposure hours\u00a0that will increase awareness of potential career paths in healthcare and\u00a0enhance preparation for graduate and professional programs in\u00a0medicine and the health sciences.\u00a0 Together, these benefits will provide\u00a0H-SC students with a competitive edge as applicants to medical and health professional schools.<\/p>\n<p>The H-SC\/Centra Pre-Health Rotational Shadowing Program will be ongoing, and applications will be solicited in the Fall 2015 semester for a new set of rotations to begin the following spring.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1476\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.hsc.edu\/biology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/DSC00667.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1476\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1476 \" alt=\"H-SC's Spring 2015 students selected to participate in the Centra\/H-SC Pre-Health Rotational Shadowing Program.
