The Web Oversight Committee is undertaking a complete redesign of the College website this year. Preliminary templates have been developed. The Committee is seeking input from all of the College constituencies. Please feel free to comment here on the design.
The design may be viewed in the screen shots below. There are a few links down into the site as indicated below.

Prospective Students drop-down area
Try the audience links from the homepage for Prospective Students, Current Students, Faculty & Staff, Alumni, and Directories. Each audience drop-down can be managed by the various departments and change content as needed.

Admissions homepage

Academics homepage

Sample Department homepage
Each department will have a homepage and separate menu. Each department may highlight their strengths or special characteristics on the page. The little images are placeholders and will change often. Sample links under the Psychology Dept: Overview, Professors, Requirements, Graduates.

Athletics homepage
Stories from all of the sports will appear on the Athletics homepage. An individual athlete will be highlighted on the homepage and change randomly. Each sport’s homepage will highlight its own athletes and link to more information about them.

Site index
I like what you are doing with the site, but I don’t particularly like the gray back-round divider that the student of interest poses in front of. I feel as if it doesn’t flow with the page and would look better as either white, garnet, or a lighter gray to match the horizontal line above. Keep up the good work! Overall, it looks very good and is easy to navigate.
I agree-the student highlight picture shows up as jarring and doesn’t really fit with the rest of the page. It looks like there’s even more going on with pictures on this page, but I feel like it’s more pictures for the sake of more pictures. There’s a lot going on here, and it feels overwhelming.
I agree with the comment about the intensity of the gray bar. Perhaps making it more transparent would help. It seems like a barrier rather than an entrance. I also agree with the comment about the number of pictures being overwhelming. The old addage, “less is more,” is particularly appropriate for meida design like web pages.
