Fall 2014 -- on Sabbatical
I spent the semester working on a number of projects, including articles on Berkeley’s philosophy of economics and philosophy of religion. “Berkeley’s Bubble” (about Berkeley’s account of the South Seas bubble in the early 18th century) among others were the result of my work.
Spring 2015
Phil 413 ‘Capstone: Philosophy of Social Science.’ (Left to right): Prof. Robert Bishop, Jonathan Wade, Bryon Hines, Hight, Ryan Rivas, James Crandall, Prof. Lee McIntyre, Joe Bean. The topic was the philosophy of social science with an emphasis on the nature of explanation.
Phil 495 ‘Philosophy of Imperialism.’ Will Brantley (not pictured). This was an uncompensated overload, but Will did great work. He should have been a philosophy major, especially since he went on a career in law and was an Ethics Bowl stud!
Phil 217 ‘Philosophy of Religion.’ (Left to right): Harrison McNabb, Logan ‘Mr. 3am’ McDonald, Alec Gouaux, Grant Gubbins, C. Atticus O’Brien, Max Maurer, Tyler Wagner, Garrett ‘the quiet one’ Gateley, Jack Elliott. (Front, seated, lying down): Ryan ‘the champ’ Kluk, and Jared Arntzen.
Phil 303 ‘Empiricism and Kant.’ Joe ‘force and vivacity’ Bean and Alex ‘I love the transcendental unity of apperception’ Abbott.
Philosophy 2015 Senior Dinner at the Hight House. (Left to right): Prof. Wilson, Jonathan ‘J-Wade’ Wade, Ryan Rivas (2015 Jones Prize winner!), Bryon Hines, Liesl, and Hight.
