The world’s population was ‘only’ 4.4 billion human persons, a Danish newspaper challenged taboos against depicting images of Muhammad, President Bush renewed the Patriot Act (including a section that explicitly exempted himself from any requirement to inform Congress how it is being used), and the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Seattle Seahawks in the Superbowl.

Hight’s WCul 103 class engaged in an exercise where we put western culture on trial for alleged crimes against civilization and people. After a tense trial filled with interesting historically researched witnesses, the jury (a mix of student peers, faculty, and staff) found Western Culture narrowly…. not guilty.
