The Cyclades are a ring of islands in the Aegean Sea, named for their position “circling” (kyklos) the sacred island of Delos. The Cyclades gave their name to the Cycladic civilization of the early Bronze Age, known for its distinctive minimalist marble figurines, and later included important sanctuaries and city-states throughout antiquity.
