Mt. Parnassos, towering above Delphi, was sacred to Apollo and the Muses in Greek mythology and was said to be the site where Deucalion’s ark came to rest after the great flood. The mountain’s slopes provided pasture (Livadi) for local shepherds and their goats, and its heights conceal the Corycian Cave, an ancient site of worship. The mountain remains a scenic backdrop to the sanctuary of Delphi and a popular hiking destination today. [Editor’s note: the original site had only brief photo labels for this page. This paragraph was drafted as a placeholder and should be reviewed/expanded by Dr. Siegel.]
